2020 Membership Renewal

To our members, please remember it’s time to look ahead and pay your 2020 annual dues.

Download the application form from the Join Us page and send it along with payment to the address on page 2 of the form.

Take a minute to read the PIKA Paddler Guidelines for 2020, also found on the Join Us page, to learn about the changes to skills requirements for the various PIKA trip classifications.

2020 Facilitator Training

Facilitator training will take place on Sunday February 23rd starting at 10:00 am.  There will be a short break for lunch which you need to purchase.

The training will finish around 3:00 pm.

All facilitators must keep current by taking this training at least once every two years.

Location is the meeting room in the White Spot Restaurant, just south of Fraser Highway on 264th Street, Aldergrove. It’s attached to the Best Western and there is a side door to access it so you don’t need to go through the restaurant.

2020 Trip Planning Meeting

People who want to facilitate a trip for the 2020 calendar are invited to attend the trip planning meeting on January 11, 2020.

Please bring your fantastic paddling ideas and preferred dates!  Those who have confirmed reservations or must take a trip on a particular date because of tides, currents, etc., will get the first opportunity to put their trip on the calendar.

The meeting will be held at the White Spot in Aldergrove, starting at 1:00pm.

White Spot address is 3070 264 St unit b, Aldergrove, BC

If you can’t be there but want to facilitate a trip, send your request to the trip coordinator: trips@pikakayak.com .

November 2019 Pool Sessions

PIKA pool sessions: November 2, 9, 23 and 30, 2019.

The sessions are from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm on above Saturdays. You can practice as long as you want but at least one hour is recommended.

Location is the pool at the Tong Family YMCA , 14988 57th Ave Surrey.

You must pay $20 in advance to reserve your spot in a session. To do so, contact John Bakker: jbakker042@gmail.com

Be sure that your kayak is clean, inside and out.

AGM March 2019

Annual General Meeting

The PIKA AGM for the year ending December 31, 2018 was held on Wednesday March 13th, 2019. After the conclusion of regular business, review of past years’ minutes, President and Treasurer report, elections were held for the positions of Membership Coordinator, Safety and Training Coordinator, and Secretary.

The 2019 PIKA Executive:

President – Cathy Cook

Treasurer – Pat Jones

Secretary and Webmaster – John Halliday

Membership Coordinator – Karen and Stan Matier

Safety and Training Coordinator – John Bakker

Trip Coordinator – James Jordan

Our new Events Coordinator is John Drent, and Librarian is Brenda Viala. Both of these are non elected positions.

Thank you to John Bakker for letting your name stand for a second two year term. Also, a big thank you to all those individuals for donating your time to make our club so terrific.

Our annual general meeting was held on March 13, 2019. Elections were held for Executive positions of Membership, Secretary, and Safety and Training coordinator. Also we now have a new non-elected Events Coordinator.

Membership Dues

Welcome to our new members!

To our members, please remember it’s time to look ahead and pay your 2019 annual dues. Dues are only $55.00 per member, with an additional $10.00 for a second member living in the same household. If you are a returning member and renew at the next club meeting, you’ll just need to re-sign the application and waiver. If you will not be attending a meeting, please download the form from our Join Us page and send it along with payment to the address on the form.
